Irish Lace Making - Eileen C O'Connor
Irish Lace Making - Eileen C O'Connor
This new edition offers an historical background and introduction to the working of Limerick, Carrickmacross and Tambour laces. These style were first introduced to Ireland early in the 19th century, when they became the basis for a thriving industry. Although this has long since declined, the designs have been preserved and today are suitable for working by both professional and amateur lacemakers. Working instructions are given for 39 traditional designs, accompanied by full-size patterns and illustrated with samples of genuine antique lace. Information on stitches, edgings and the care of finished lace is also included.
